Background:

Unhealthy wheels/rolling stock can cause the derailments and also the accidents if not identiied on
real time. They will also create unusual strain on the rails and also damage the rails. Rails may have to be
repaired/replaced sometimes immediately.

Introduction:
IWILD is being designed and developed to know the impact of the load, by the unhealthy wheels/rolling
stock, on the rails. IWILD can collect the data and process and also inform the result in no time.

Key feature of IWILD:
Through Smart hand held devices, Real time Information can be given to the driver
of the same train, running staff, station master and others.

REMIS can also monitor uneven loading of wagons and also condition of wheel i.e lat wheel.

FBG Concept:
The FBG operates like an optical ilter i.e. it relects certain wavelength of light while it transmits others. Fibre Bragg Gratings convert mechanical strain variation into an optical wavelength shift.
Strain caused on the FBG sensor would make wavelength to get shifted to detect/sense parameters.

FBG fabrication:
FBG is fabricated by exposing photosensitive ibre core to pulsed UV laser through optical phase mask.
