Reliable train detection is fundamental to safe and efficient operation of trains. The existing Track Circuits and EM Sensor based Axle Counters have served the railways for well for over a century, but modern technologies provide better options.

Introduction

FBG-ACP has been designed with the revolutionary Fiber Bragg Grating Sensors that offer both reliability and accuracy. FBGs are optical sensors which are highly stable and work well in harsh environment.

Interrogators can be connected in one of the way as mentioned in the below block diagrams to optimize as per the application.

Key features of FBG-ACP

The FBG sensors are immune to Electromagnetic Interference and do not require power supply. They are small in size and easy to deploy on the tracks.

FBG Concept

FBG are optical filters that reflect one wavelength of light while transmitting the others.

FBG converts physical and biochemical perturbation into an optical wavelength shift.

The wavelength shift is monitored by an “Interrogator”.

FBG is fabricated by exposing photosensitive fiber core to pulsed UV laser through optical phase mask.
